up to 2021? This is what would match the support for apps on Windows or some paid Linuxes. One more question: is there synchronization with the lifecycle of LTSes? Can application authors count on Neon to have packages for entire lifetime of LTS 16.04 for example, i.e. Calligra packages for Ubuntu on the release day, instead of with large delay or never (depending on LTS).

I am extra grateful for having opportunity to see e.g. Guys, how about letting the normal users know in simple words what's-what? I am assuming Neon is a rolling release distro-like (when it comes to the desktop/desktop apps) and really replaces Kubuntu (as the team has largely moved there).

"KDE neon's foundations will be the Ubuntu LTS version, they will not change" - does it explain Ubuntu LTS or Neon? The primary focus of development is preparing the upcoming (every 6 months) Kubuntu version. Once released no new feature versions are added.

Kubuntu on the other hand moves along with the Ubuntu releases in between LTS releases and each Kubuntu release has set versions of KDE software it releases with. The primary focus of development is getting the latest stable KDE software to the users of KDE neon. The KDE software on top of the foundations however keeps getting updated by default whenever new stable releases are done. Maybe an extra backend, like tvtime.Apachelogger wrote:KDE neon's foundations will be the Ubuntu LTS version, they will not change unless necessary or a new version comes along. Currently device scanning is done using MPlayer, but should be done more reliable (eg. A new name, KMPlayer sounds like a frontend to MPlayer, no?.Fixing this would allow kmplayer to replace the binary only flash plugin for konqueror. Note, flash already works with the gstswfdec plugin. Improve the GStreamer backend ( kgstplayer), audio visualisations, dvdnav, flash, etc.Fix the debian build, don't end with an error, make kmplayer package a real meta package of -lib, -plugin and -app.Anyway, if you like to contribute to KMPlayer, have a look at this: Some things simply stay low on my priority list, simply because I don't need it right now. These players are simple command line applications ( xsreensaver compatible) that embed inside KMPlayer. * backend players that come with KMPlayer. Simple XML editor that make the XML under the current selected node editable and allows you to sync it back at that point in the tree.Highly recommended for the VDR keys (if you have VDR) and volume increase/decrease. VDR viewer frontend (with * kxvplayer), configure VDR keys with standard KDE shortcut configure window.launch ffserver (only 0.4.8 works) when viewing from a v4l device.let the backend players play from a pipe (read from stdin), using a seperate process (not piping to kmplayer itself).play DVD ( DVDNav only with the Xine player). The stand-alone application can additionally:

Actually, I wouldn't be suprised if the majority of KMPlayer users only use the plugin and use one of the other great movie players for KDE for other means. The stand-alone player ( libkdeinit_kmplayer.so) shares its core ( libkmplayercommon.so) with the plugin's ( libkmplayerpart.so) one, keeping both plugin and stand-alone player as lean (and secure) as possible. configurable pattern matching for MPlayer and easy Xine configuration editor.
